Who Are The Indigos

There is a transformation in human consciousness that is happening all over the globe. The indigos are the warriors here to break down the barriers of traditional thought, stretch us outside the boundaries of limited thinking and push us beyond the illusionary reality we call life. They see a lack if integrity in our current social, educational, and governmental systems and feel strongly compelled to reject the current state. They often seem to create drama and ciaos in the home and at school so they can push us to recreate balance and order in alignment with the new paradigm. They can often seem hard to handle and their boundless energy can seem over whelming at time but it is how they are wired so they can accomplish such a great mission.

There is debate as to when Indigos started arriving on the planet. Some say as early as the 1800's. Though at this point they were far and few between. By the 1950's they were coming in at a rate of 5-10%. There was a large wave that started coming to the planet in the late 1970's and by 1982 it was estimated that 80-90% of the children being born were Indigos.

Indigo is a term or description used to define behavior patterns based on practical observation. Indigos display a new and unusual set of psychological attributes and show a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before. Clearly, they fit into no predetermined "mold." The description originates from Nancy Ann Tappe who intuitively sees a persons' life color or aura and can then determine a person's life mission. Lee Carol later coined the name in her book "The Indigo Children" and from that "Indigo" became the general name used to label these unique individuals.

Indigos are immensely likable and endearing. They come into the world with a feeling of royalty and often act like it, although they can waiver between low self-esteem and grandiosity. They have a feeling of "deserving to be here" and are surprised when others don't share that. They have difficulty with absolute authority and have a built in radar detector for when someone is being manipulative or inauthentic. They strongly reject anything that is not in alignment with their truth. They have little tolerance for rules that don't make sense and have little patients for people who don't "get it" as quickly as they do. They are uncomfortable with "old" structures, and get frustrated with systems that are ritual-oriented and don't require creative thought. They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters." They seem to be a "wise old soul" with a keen sense of purpose and destiny, and are highly intelligent, deeply intuitive, incredibly creative and full of energy.

Indigos come into this world knowing the divine blue print of the universe. They come to earth holding a clear and immediate vision of peace and perfection for us and for our world. Sadly, the limitations and realities of earth-life drain our children's knowing. Although, until the age of four or five or six, our children fresh from the Other Side, continue to reflect Divine Light, and hold onto some of the knowing and the secrets. Scientific research is now affirming stories being told by these young Indigos about past life experiences, and it's not uncommon for them to talk about situations in their life with wisdom and clarity far beyond their years.

Even with, or perhaps because of the light and love they bring, our children seem to have emotional anguish. They deeply feel a huge gap between what they intuitively forever know from the divine and what they encounter as a bruised and battered existence here on earth. What they "know" and what they "experience" doesn't match up. They feel wounded at the core of their spiritual, energetic beings.

So many of our children are angry, and sad, and in despair. They feel so uncomfortable in their bodies; they are disillusioned, confused, and uncertain. They have a hard time coping with life as they feel their pain but don't know how to deal with it. So, in their fear and desperation, our children "play out" and "act out" their pain. They have trouble "fitting in" or "getting along" at home and at school. They may even do poorly in school and be overly aggressive or withdrawn at play. They can even play out their anguish in more serious anti-social attitude and behaviors, and have difficulty knowing the difference between right and wrong.

Indigos are extremely sensitive and reactive to everything from someone else's moods, to world events, to food, to the general feel of the environment. They are prone to nightmares, insomnia, restless sleep, and have difficulty falling asleep. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of our Indigos have been labeled ADD /ADHD and are put on drugs to hopefully ease their discomfort, and make them easier to manage and control.

Indigos are here on this earth plane because they have so much to contribute and share in this world. It is hard to see their pain and discomfort get in the way of their magnificence shining though. Yet, despite the difficulties that our Indigos have and despite the difficulties that parents and teachers and society have in coping with these children and adults, we know they are very special and brilliant human beings here to show us the way.
